Police have intercepted a motor vehicle equipped with an illegal device capable of automatically concealing and revealing its number plate, in a move authorities say is part of ongoing efforts to enforce road safety and curb impunity.
The vehicle, registration UBQ 554Q, was stopped on March 25, 2026. The driver, identified as Baale Frank, also known as MC Stubborn, has been released on police bond pending further investigations. The vehicle remains impounded at Katwe Central Police Station as inquiries continue, with the driver expected to be arraigned in court once investigations conclude.
Police addressed a circulating video on social media platform TikTok in which the suspect allegedly claimed to have paid money to secure his release. Authorities dismissed the video as misleading, describing it as an attempt to discredit law enforcement and distract from ongoing operations targeting traffic violations.
“We remain focused on executing our mandate and will not be diverted from ensuring accountability and discipline on our roads,” police said in a statement.
The case is part of an intensified crackdown on motorists attempting to evade identification through illegal modifications, as authorities push to strengthen road safety and compliance nationwide.
